CHIKKA

The company

Chikka has built the world's most user-friendly and carrier-friendly mobile messanging platform.  They are using this platform to deploy products that are designed to build and capture value from loyal communities of mobile users.  Their core products include mobile instant messaging (which allows mobile user to easily send and receive text messages with any PC anywhere in the world), mobile group messaging (which allows a mobile user to form groups and have an interactive "conversation" with all members of the group by simply text-ing) and mobile e-mail (which allows mobile users to easily send and receive e-mail from their mobile phones). 

 On April 6, 2001, NCP invested on behalf of PDICL PhP25 million in Chikka Holdings Limited acquiring a minority stake in the company. 

The future

Chikka has been adding 800-1000 new users a day being officially launched with Smart in September 2001(up from 200-400 a day in November.)  Their message volume has also been increasing at a steady rate (12,000 messages a day for the TxtMessenger product).  Chikka’s rate of growth in terms of subscriber acquisition will increase sharply once it is pushed by both Smart and Globe, the leading Philippine mobile carriers.  

Chikka relationships with Smart and Globe are getting stronger everyday.  Globe collaborates closely with Chikka to develop and deploy new products or product variants.  One valuable offshoot of the Globe relationship is the access to the Singtel relationship.  

  Chikka is moving quickly to expand in Asia, Europe and the Americas.  Technology  partnerships are being forged with dominant carriers and technology companies worldwide.
