TEN KNOTS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (ELNIDO RESORTS)

The company

Ten Knots Development Corporation (TKDC) currently manages two resorts, Miniloc Islands Resort and Lagen Island Resort, collectively known as The El Nido Resorts.  TKDC leases the resort lands and pays 5% of revenues as rental fees.

El Nido offers astounding views of limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons and white sand secluded beaches.  It is one of the most important biodiversity sites in the country.  In the thick forests of El Nido, more than 103 species of birds and 12 species of mammals are identified, three of which are endemic to the locality.  Also a turtle sanctuary, El Nido is home to three species of endangered sea turtles.  Around the bay, sightings of dolphins, whales, whale sharks and manta rays have also been recorded.  El Nido has more than 20 dive sites, all easily accessible from the resorts.

The investment

On March 25, 2001, Asian Conservation Corporation, through NCP, acquired secondary shares amounting to approximately 51% of the company.

The future

Ecotourism has been gaining a lot of popularity and with TKDC's almost 20 years of colorful experience in the business, it is confident that it can "ride with the tide".  With its large land bank, TKDC is planning to build an additional 4-star resort of at least 36 rooms most probably in the island of Pangalusian.  It plans to renovate and upgrade Miniloc to a 4-star resort.  Moreover, the owner of a group of renowned resorts has expressed interest to develop a destination spa concept for the hot spring property of TKDC in mainland El Nido, about 5 kms. from the proposed new airport.
